About us

Kia ora and welcome to Robinsons Bay…

We have been making olive oil on the Banks Peninsula in New Zealand since 2006 and are very blessed to call this place home! We produce our oil with plenty of heart and we love to share our liquid gold with people who are passionate about great food and good health.

Our olive grove in Robinsons Bay contains around 1000 trees comprising various varieties from around the world, including:

• Frantoio and Leccino from Italy

• Manzanillo from Spain

• Barnea from Israel

• Nabali from Palestine

• South Australian Verdale from Australia

Our trees were planted 20 years ago and are all well-established producing excellent fruit year upon year. Harvesting takes place in June/July and friends and family enjoy the tradition of helping us pick our olives… it’s a team effort and Annette always makes sure the crew are well fed!

At the end of every harvest our Extra Virgin is sent off for certification. Look out for the red Olives New Zealand sticker on our Extra Virgin as this is your guarantee that it is a premium quality product.

In 2008 we began the exciting process of infusing some of our olive oil and discovered garlic and citrus oils (using mandarin & lemon) quickly became very popular among local foodies, professional chefs and high-end restaurants which was encouraging. We are very grateful for all the support we continue to receive from the Kiwi culinary community which is thriving here in New Zealand.

Chris bottles our olive oil by hand at the grove which is in keeping with artisan traditions. You’ll also find Chris at Riverside Market on Fridays and Christchurch Farmers Market on Saturdays hosting olive oil tastings and sharing his knowledge (and banter!) with our happy clients. We are very proud to be associated with these world-class local markets.

Over the last 12 years we have experimented with different infusion ideas inspired by our travels and have added the very best of these to our collection which includes our multi award-winning Extra Virgin and six fabulous, flavoured oils for you to try. We hope you love them as much as we do.

Robinsons Bay Extra Virgin Olive Oil has been judged to be “New Zealand's Best” at The New Zealand Olive Oil Awards in 2012, 2013, 2015 , 2016 & 2023 and Gold Medals in 2010, 2017, 2018, 2020 & 2023.

We also won GOLD at the prestigious New York International Olive Oil Awards in 2017 where over 900 entries from 28 countries participated.
