Shipping, Returns & Terms

Shipping
Postage is a flat $9.80 anywhere in New Zealand, however many bottles you order.
One bottle or a full case, the postage is the same. So it pays to stock up, or to add a gift box while you're here.
We ship within New Zealand only. We don't currently send oil overseas.
Orders usually arrive within 2 to 6 working days of being placed. Rural addresses can take a day or two longer. Those are the courier's typical times rather than a promise, so if your order is running late, email us and we'll chase it up.
Everything goes by Post Haste courier and is tracked. We'll email you the tracking number when your order leaves us.
Couriers can't deliver to PO Boxes, so please give us a street address.
Around Christmas, and just after each pressing, things get busy. If your order needs to arrive by a particular date, email us before you order and we'll tell you honestly whether we can make it.
We're a small family grove. Every order is packed by hand.
If your order doesn't arrive, or arrives damaged
Getting your oil to you in good condition is our job, not yours. If something goes wrong in transit, you don't need to chase the courier. Come to us.
Get in touch as soon as you can at robinsonsbayolives@gmail.com or 021 316 319.
It hasn't arrived. Send us your order number and we'll track it down. If it's genuinely lost, we'll put it right: a replacement or a full refund, whichever you'd rather have.
It arrived damaged. Olive oil travels in glass, and very occasionally a bottle doesn't survive the trip. A couple of photos of the bottle and the box help us sort it out quickly, and please hang on to the packaging if you can. Then just tell us which you'd prefer, a replacement or a refund. Either is fine by us.
Please let us know as soon as you reasonably can. The sooner we hear, the easier it is to lodge a claim with the courier while the delivery is recent. That's a request, not a deadline. Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act don't run out after a week, and we'll still put things right if it takes you longer to get in touch.
Your rights under New Zealand law
Nothing on this page limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
If you're buying from us as a consumer, the law guarantees that what we send you:
is of acceptable quality
matches how we've described it
arrives in acceptable condition, within a reasonable time
If we fall short on any of that, you're entitled to a remedy and we'll put it right. That applies whatever this page says and whatever any of our other terms say.
We also have obligations under the Fair Trading Act 1986 not to mislead you about our oils, our prices or your rights. If you think we have, please tell us and we'll fix it.
Business customers. Being a business doesn't automatically put you outside the Consumer Guarantees Act. It depends on what you're buying and why, not on who you are. Olive oil is the sort of thing people ordinarily buy for the kitchen at home, so if you're buying our oil for your office or as gifts for clients, you have exactly the same rights as anyone else. The Act only stops applying if you're buying to resell our oil, or to use it as an ingredient in food you sell. If that's you, get in touch and we'll set up a separate written wholesale agreement.
Change of mind
We can't take oil back simply because you've changed your mind. That's our own policy, and it doesn't touch the legal rights set out above, which we can't limit.
We're sending food in glass bottles, and once a bottle has left us we can't sell it to anyone else. So please choose carefully.
If you're not sure which oil you'd like, come and taste them at the market, or email us and we'll happily help you pick.
None of this applies when something is actually wrong with your order. If your oil arrives damaged, doesn't arrive at all, or isn't what we described, you're entitled to a remedy under the Consumer Guarantees Act and we'll sort it out.
Terms and conditions
Prices. All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. We may change prices at any time, but the price shown at checkout is the price you pay.
Orders. Placing an order is an offer to buy. We accept it when we send you a dispatch confirmation. If we can't fill your order, for example because an oil has sold out, we'll email you and refund you in full.
Availability. Our oils are pressed once a year from our own grove, so some varieties run out before the next season arrives. Anything unavailable will show as out of stock on the site.
How the oil looks and tastes. Our photographs are of our own bottles, but colours look different from screen to screen. Real olive oil also varies from season to season and batch to batch, in colour, in cloudiness and in flavour. That's the nature of an unrefined food made from one grove's fruit, and that sort of variation isn't a fault. Oil that's rancid, off, or not what we described is a different matter entirely. Tell us and we'll put it right.
Storing your oil. Keep it somewhere cool and dark, away from the stovetop and out of the sun, and use it by the best before date on the bottle. Olive oil doesn't improve with age.
Your information. We collect your name, contact details and delivery address so we can take payment, pack your order and get it to you. Giving us those details is voluntary, but we can't process an order without them.
To do that, we share what's needed with our website and checkout provider (Squarespace), our payment provider (Stripe), and our courier (Post Haste). If you've asked to hear from us, your email address also goes to the platform we use to send those emails. Some of these providers store information overseas on our behalf. We don't sell your details to anyone, and we don't pass them on for anyone else's marketing.
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and it works.
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, at any time. Email robinsonsbayolives@gmail.com or ring 021 316 319. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020. If you're not happy with how we've handled it, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Payment. Payments are processed securely by Stripe through our Squarespace checkout. Stripe is a global payment processor used by millions of businesses, and your card details go straight to them. We never see or store your full card number.
Returns. If we ever need something sent back to us, we'll give you the address and cover the cost. Please talk to us before sending anything back.
Governing law. These terms are governed by New Zealand law.
If we can't sort it out
Email or ring us first. We're a small family business and we would much rather fix a problem directly than have you go anywhere else.
If we can't reach agreement, you can contact Consumer Protection on 0800 943 600, or take a claim to the Disputes Tribunal.
